The highly anticipated release of Kanye West’s Jesus Is King has been delayed, with sources close to West stating that the rapper will no longer be releasing the project tomorrow. While the rapper had included a tracklist for the album on Instagram earlier this year, it is unknown if a new release date for the project will be announced.
These types of last minute delays for the album have been a common occurrence for West, who delayed his highly anticipated 2018 album Yandhi several times, before eventually scrapping the album altogether. Although unlike Yandhi, West has been hosting several gospel themed performances entitled Sunday Services throughout the year, which hint at some thematic elements for West’s upcoming projects.
The rapper’s two most recent album projects ye, and The Life Of Pablo were also delayed several times, with the latter album being extensively reworked and re-released a few months after its original release. This upcoming project may also be surprised released, which was the case for ye, and his 2013 album Yeezus, which was only announced two weeks prior to its release.
West has recently produced two new tracks for Pusha T this year, with “Coming Home,” featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill, one of West’s favorite performers, and “Sociopath,” featuring Kash Doll. The performer also appeared with frequent collaborators Francis and The Lights, Cashmere Cat, and Bon Iver for the Francis and The Lights track “Take Me To The Light,” released earlier this month.
