Secret Project aims to take it back to where it all began, bringing the vibrant, grimy world of the avant garde back to the streets of LA, back to the place it was born. As an outgrowth of the Insomniac collective of festivals, Secret Project sits near and dear to the hearts of those who founded the brand on these same streets years ago.
But it’s more than just the location that hearkens back to the days of the early LA avant garde. The lovingly crafted lineup features everyone from electronic icons like Peggy Gou, Modeselektor, Leon Vynehall, Dam-Funk, and Four Tet, to more underground acts like Ben UFO, Bears In Space, and Goddollars.
Beyond the music and location, the small, focused festival blends a touch of the art that boomed alongside the electronic movement of the early 90s’ taking a cue from major festivals like Coachella, but in a more far more intimate experience. Art installations include familiar murals and graffiti that capture the spirit of the Downtown LA location, and glowing environments that look towards an electronic future.
Anyone looking to catch a glimpse of the next wave of progressive electronic music needs to have Secret Project on their list. The festival takes place over two days in downtown Los Angeles and is poised to be a night of reflection, discovery, and mind bending electronics. This is one you won’t want to miss.
