Indie rock band Wilco have released a new promotional music video for “Everyone Hides,” which will featured on their upcoming album Ode to Joy, due October 4th via dBpm Records. This track was recorded at The Loft in Chicago. and was Picture Show Films, with Jamie Fleischel directing.
The track features the band’s unique brand of Americana, blended with their sense of indie rock, with upbeat acoustic guitars and rhythms. The video features the band’s frontman Jeff Tweedy engaging in a game of hide and seek with fellow band mates across The Loft, and places around it in downtown Chicago, before they reunite to finish performing the song on the roof of the recording studio. During the video they also hide in a building which is shown on the cover of their classic 2001 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
“‘Everyone Hides’ is the first promotional video to feature Wilco as a living breathing band of humans in close to 20 years,” Tweedy stated in a press release. “Maybe for obvious reasons we’ve avoided putting ourselves forward in this way and have tried to play to our strengths musically or, I don’t know, maybe we’ve just been lazy… Or suspicious of expenditures outside of our focus on album making. For whatever reason this time around we just said f**k it and had a blast.”
Wilco are currently embarking on a set of Fall 2019 tour dates across the United States and Europe. They also wrapped up their Solid Sound Festival earlier this year, which featured other artists including Courtney Barnett and Tortoise. They also announced new destination festival called Sky Blue Sky, which will launch next year.
