RIP: Eddie Money Dead at 70

The 70’s and 80’s hitmaker, Eddie Money, known for having a number of top 40-songs and a string of platinum albums, has unfortunately passed away earlier today. Money was most known for his surge of success from songs like, “Two Tickets To Paradise,” “Baby Hold On,” and “Take Me Home Tonight.” Eddie had recently announced in season 2 of his reality TV show, Real Money, that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. Money admitted to being a life-long smoker and in 2001 admitted himself into a rehab program for drug and alcohol abuse. Although the singer was battling esophageal cancer, his untimely death came at the hands of complications associated with his heart valve procedure that took place a couple of months ago.

The singer died Friday in Los Angeles. His family said, “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

Eddie started his career performing in local clubs around the California area before being signed to Columbia Records in 1976. His debut, self-titled, album went two times platinum and included hits like “Two Tickets to Paradise” which would solidify Eddie Money’s place in the Rock and Roll genre. His career spanned over 4 decades and he has sold over 28 million albums. He is survived by Laurie, his wife of more than 30 years, and his five children, Zachary, Jessica, Joseph, Julian and Desmond.
