Earlier this July, A$AP Rocky and members of his crew were involved in a street confrontation in Stockholm. The hip hop artist was arrested in Sweden for alleged assault. The news rapidly attracted wide attention on social media platforms. A growing number of lawmakers and celebrities has called for his release. After lobbying from Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, President Trump reached out to the Swedish Government about A$AP Rocky’s situation. The case judged by the Stockholm District court resulted in A$AP Rocky being charged with assault and released after nearly a month in jail. Rocky’s entire European scheduled tours were canceled due to his situation.
According to Stereogum, A$AP Rocky made his first performance at the Real Street festival in Anaheim, CA since the release from Stockholm jail. The rapper commented on his situation and brought out Tyler, The Creator last night. Rocky spoke out to the crowd:
“Y’all know how happy I am to be here right now. I wanna say this though. When I was away — hold the mosh please, this a sentimental moment! — what I experienced was crazy. It was a scary, humbling experience, but I’m here right now, God is good. People who ain’t even fuck with me felt sympathy. People was praying for me, that uplifted me when my spirits was low. I can’t thank y’all enough, man, that was crazy. Hip-hop never looked so strong together.”
In our recent story, the Grammy-nominated Tyler, The Creator and founder of Odd Future is no longer banned by New Zealand after 7 years. The duo performed “Who Dat Boy” on the stage. A 23-minute footage video of their set was posted by Irma Hernandez in YouTube. Check out the video below.
A$AP Rocky will join the inaugural 2019 Rolling Loud New York music festival in October. The hip hop music festival assembles a studded cast, including Wu-Tang Clan, Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti.
