The Growlers Announce New Album Natural Affair For 2019 Release And Launch Fall 2019 Tour Dates

The Growlers released new single “Natural Affair” the first track off Natural Affair, their sixth studio album set to release this fall via Beach Goth Records and Tapes. “Natural Affair” was produced by singer Brooks Nielsen and guitarist Matt Taylor and was inspired during sessions for their new LP Natural Affair. The song “Natural Affair” has an 80’s esque vibe with lyrics similar to the sound of Thomas Dolby mixed with modern day pop-rock.

Taylor says, “A lot of our songs were coming out on the darker, more sentimental side, so we decided to make something more upbeat. We all took a break, watched a documentary on Spandau Ballet, and wrote this riff that sounds a bit like ‘The Groove Line’ by Heatwave. More disco and energetic, just trying to keep it funky.” The band’s 2016 LP City Club has amassed 200 million Spotify streams, 1.2 million monthly listeners, and 75 million YouTube streams.

The band’s tour is slated for 54 dates with stops in Phoenix, Denver, Toronto, Montreal, Asbury Park, Ogden, Utah, NYC’s Central Park Summer Stage on September 14 with support from indie legends The Lemonheads. There are also shows in the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and the sold-out Green Man Festival in the UK alongside Idles, Sharon Van Etten, and Father John Misty. This year the band hosts their annual Beach Goth event as a three night Halloween party at the legendary Hollywood Palladium, featuring extended performances, surprises and special guests.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
