Two major metal music festivals will be joining together in Mexico City, for the very first Knotfest Meets Forcefest Music Festival, which will take place from November 30th to December 1st. Both of these shows will feature their founders and main headliners Slipkot, and Rob Zombie, respectively, along with Exodus, Evanescence, and Suicidal Tendencies.
The first portion and day of the festival will be Knotfest, and will feature Evanescence, Behemoth, Carcass, Suicidal Tendencies, Chelsea Grin, and others alongside Slipknot. Accept, Saxon, Testament, Exodus, will join Rob Zombie and many others on day two as part of Forcefest the following day.
Former percussionist Chris Fehn, sued the band earlier this year over allegations that he was not fairly compensated for touring or merchandising rights. Fehn made formal statements “alleging that he was not fairly compensated for profits from touring and merchandise. [He] apparently accused his bandmates of setting up multiple business entities instead of funneling all the profits through one single company to be split among the band members,” according to press reports.
Despite this lawsuit, the band have continued on with their forthcoming album, We Are Not Your Kind, which is set to be their sixth studio album over all. According to band members, this album is planned to be their most cohesive album, where they plan on focusing on the project as a whole as opposed to just strong individual tracks.
“This is most time we’ve had to write a record, and work stuff out together. One of my inspirations this time around was those artists that recorded full-length albums – not just songs,” the band’s guitarist Jim Root stated regarding the album. “While the industry is moving toward singles, Slipknot wanted to make an album experience, front to back.”
Rob Zombie is currently co-headlining a tour with Marilyn Manson, entitled the Notorious Twins of Evil Tour, which spans across North America from Baltimore Maryland, spanning all the way to Gilford, New Hampshire which will end mid-August. The pair have frequently toured together, with their first tour being held back in 2012, and another tour entitled the “Second Coming” tour taking place last year.
