Critically acclaimed cinematic movie composers Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury are teaming up once again to make movie magic through contributing their skills to a film’s score. Mxdwn notes that they have previously contributed music to the hit Netflix program “Black Mirror.” Last year the two brought ambiance to the sci-fi film “Annihilation,” according to the Playlist, and most recently, they will be contributing to the score for the upcoming dramatic thriller “Luce.” The film is directed by notorious filmmaker Julius Onah and is based on a play by J.C. Lee.

Salisbury was very moved by the movie’s script and went on record saying “The script for ‘Luce’ had such an impact on us, that we not only jumped at the chance to be involved but also immediately came up with a theme for Luce himself. This was one of those rare occasions where our very first response, informed by Julius Onah’s incredibly strong vision, ended up being the catalyst for the whole score.”

Onah had a glowing review of Barrow and Salisbury’s work, saying that their “natural instincts as storytellers perfectly suited the material while also elevating the work of everything we saw on screen. It was a dream collaboration and the fruits of their labor speak for itself.”  He claims that he “can’t wait to listen to their brilliant work on ‘Luce’ over and over again.”

Both the movie and the accompanying soundtrack is set to be released on August 2nd. “Luce” will star Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Tim Roth, and Kelvin Harrison, Jr and follows the story of a young Black man, the titular Luce, who was adopted by white parents and led a pretty normal life until a teacher made a shocking discovery in his locker. Drama and thrills ensue.
