Bat For Lashes Releases New Song from Lost Girls “Feel For You”

Indie pop artist Natasha Khan, also known as Bat for Lashes, has released a new song called “Feel For You”, according to Consequence of Sound. “Feel For You” is the second single for her upcoming album, Lost Girls. Khan has described the project as the “mischievous younger sister” to her 2016 album The Bride. Lost Girls will be released on September 6th by British record label AWAL.

“Feel For You” is hypnotic. The 80s style production invokes images of a time when you couldn’t get away from disco music. Other interesting choices like synths that practically sound like a laser gun straight out of Star Trek and reverb heavy guitar diversify the song’s dark but very danceable sound. The song’s only real lyric is, “I love ya / I feel for you”, but this is certainly not a detriment. Khan uses the repetition to her advantage while still keeping the song interesting. She allows the production to take on a number of different forms, with various rhythms and instruments moving in and out, across the song’s roughly three and a half minute runtime.

The previous Bat For Lashes single, “Kids in the Dark” was released early last month along with the announcement of the upcoming album. A music video for the lead single was released few weeks ago. Khan has been mysteriously teasing Lost Girls on social media since last February.

Matthew Jordan: I grew up in Massachusetts, but I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I picked up my first musical instrument (viola) in the 3rd grade, and have been a fan of everything the medium has to offer ever since. Some of my favorite artists right now include Matt Maltese, Idles, MIKE, Benny the Butcher, Standing on the Corner, Built to Spill, and Frank Ocean. I also love following the charts and the music business to see what is connecting with listeners and why.
