Terry Crews Enjoys A Nice Slice Of Life In Brittany Howard’s New Video For “Stay High”

The Blues Rock musician Brittany Howard released music video for her newest single “Stay High.” The music video features actor and comedian Terry Crews. The track comes off the artist’s newest album Jaime which will be released on September 20th of this year. In addition to announcing the album, Howard also announced tour dates for a 2019 US tour. “Stay High” is the second single released off of Jaime.

The slow tempo track utilizes bells and a pulsing bass to create a song that’s easy to tap your foot to. The guitar strums a series of major chords giving the song an undeniably happy and upbeat feel to it. Drumming throughout anchors the song and drives listeners into new sections of the song with ease. These factors in tandem with Howard’s high pitched whiny vocals create something nostalgic and simply joyful.

The video itself is incredibly watchable. Terry Crews is seen lip synching to Howard’s vocals as he goes throughout the end of his day from the moment he gets off his 9-5 construction job. We watch him as he drives throughout his home, grocery shops, observers his neighbors eating ice cream, and arrives home to greet his wife and two kids all with a smile on his face. The video has a tinge of charming quirkiness to it as musical elements of the song line up with visual elements in the video. The ringing of bells matches up with the changing of the lit up numbers on checkout stations at the grocery market, and drum beats match up with people tapping their fingers and closing car doors. Brittany Howard got her start in music when she became the lead vocalist for the Blues Rock band Alabama Shakes. While with the group, Howard contributed to two albums including Boys & Girls, and Sound & Color. Jaime will be Howard’s first solo album.
