LA-based alternative rock/power pop band Redd Kross dropped one more teaser, “The Party Underground,” for their forthcoming album Beyond the Door, set to out on August 23 via Merge Records. “The Party Underground” featuring Buzz Osborne follows previously released singles, “What’s A Boy To Do” and “Beyond The Door.”

Bass guitarist Steven McDonald spoke about the collaboration with Melvins’ frontman and guitarist Osborne: “I wanted to hear three of my favorite guitarists and collaborators (Buzz Osborne, Jason Shapiro and Jeff McDonald) trade off solos whilst we celebrated the finer things deep in the bowels of the underground, expressing gratitude for a life lived in the cultural petri-dish of the world, the world of underground culture.”

He further expresses the idea behind “The Party Underground”: “I’ve been playing nightclubs since 1979 and I was 12, and it was time for me to talk up the wonders down here. The best stuff will always come up from the bottom. It’s the Party Underground.”

According to the band’s press release, Beyond the Door was driven by their “total commitment to having the best f*cking time we can have while we’re all still here” (what they like to call “The Party”). Brothers Jeff and Steven McDonald collaborate closely in this record, which celebrates their love beyond the scope of music including culture. Steven says: “Jeff is still very much the driving force behind the compositions, but with more help from me than ever. Jeff and I haven’t shared this much of the writing and singing since Born Innocent in 1981.”

The new album marks the debut recording of new two members, guitarist Jason Shapiro and drummer Dale Crover (Melvins, OFF!). Besides the feature of Melvins’s Buzz, That Dog’s Anna Waronker, Geré Fennelly and Josh Klinghoffer make a series of anticipated appearances in this record.

Redd Kross has announced their Fall 2019 Tour with the support from Melvins. The trek embarks on September 3 in San Diego, mapping out major cities including Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Brooklyn and more. The last show wraps up on November 5 in Las Vegas. Check out the tour dates here.
