It has been long overdue but Redd Kross finally announced that their new album is set for a release date. The alternative band’s seventh full-length project Beyond The Door via Merge Records on August 23rd on all digital platforms. This new album marks the band’s first announcement of new music since they released their last LP Researching the Blues back in 2012.
While it is clear that their fans have been waiting anxiously for the Hawthorne-based group to finally drop some new music, they are definitely in for a treat as frontman Steve McDonald had described Beyond The Door as easily being the group’s “most collaborative album in ages, maybe ever” with most of the songwriting being made at a time where Steve and his brother Jeff had become more involved in the creating process in almost three decades… needless to say, they can almost assure that the long wait for new Red Kross will satisfy their diehard fans.
The album is sure to be filled with good vibes and celebratory as the band cited their inspiration for the project to their “total commitment to having the best fucking time we can have while we’re all still here.”
From the looks of it, the band is only getting started with their celebrating their careers spanning across four decades as they have also announced that they’ll be hitting the road for a massive tour in the fall with The Melvins. They’re scheduled to begin the tour with a show in San Deigo on September 3rd. For ticket prices and information, click here.
Beyond The Door can be pre-ordered via CD, digitally, and on limited-edition opaque purple Peak Vinyl here in the Merge store. To read more on the official story, click here to read on the Brookyln Vegan website.
