Homeshake is the project of Montreal based singer-songwriter, musician and producer Peter Sagar. Prior to focusing on this solo endeavor, Sagar worked with Mac DeMarco – playing guitar as part of his live band. His music, with a smooth well developed aesthetic trajectory, has taken on modes of indie-pop and transitioned over the years more comprehensively into lo-fi R&B.
Fixture Records released his tape of demos The Homeshake Tape in 2013, followed later the same year by Dynamic Meditation (2013); his full length album In The Shower being released in 2014, Midnight Snack (2015), Fresh Air (2017) and his most recent release Helium (2019). Layered textures accompany Sagar’s hypnotic easy-going voice, leading into intimate feelings which peer out of the hazy music that surrounds them.
Homeshake falls into the ambient, laid-back to the point of horizontality, music that was coming of age during the teenage years of the 2000’s. Sounds which are rooted in energetic feeling, creating chilled-out vibes using synth and vibrational frequencies, are amply described in his second record title as – ‘dynamic meditation’. There is a sense that listing to this music can encourage wellbeing, lowering blood pressure as it invites you into another dimension with the skilled use of technology.
These shows at The Regent Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, will be part of Sagar’s tour across America – showcasing his new record Helium (2019). Ticket prices start at $20, this promises to be a richly atmospheric show.
