The Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal just released their newest single titled “Pa Pa Ya!” The fast paced song features a cool collaboration with the Thai rapper F.Hero. Although they haven’t released an album in a few years, Babymetal has recently been continuously putting out singles. Their most recent ones, in addition to “Pa Pa Ya!” have been “Elevator Girl,” “Distortion,” and “Starlight.” However, Babymetal announced earlier this year that they would be releasing a third studio album sometime in 2019.
With their few albums and many tracks, Babymetal has been bending and blending a range of genres. “Pa Pa Ya!” is no exception to this trend. The song has a death metal theme as the refrain “Pa Pa Ya” is screamed throughout the song. The drum rolls on the snare repeat a galloping rhythm that gives the track a stop and start feel to it. Overall, the screaming vocals and fast tempo of the song create nothing short of a raw and hardcore metal song. This makes it all the more interesting that the verses are reminiscent of a bubblegum pop sound with nice and easy to listen to vocals. Check out the song for yourself below:
Babymetal got their start in music when they participated as a group on Japanese Idol. They released their debut self-titled album in 2014 and released their second album titled “Metal Resistance” in 2016. Members of the band consist of Su-metal and Moametal. During their tours, they have a number of musicians who join them as the band puts a strong focus on live instrumentation. Babymetal has released a number of interesting music recently and it should be exciting to see how their plans for their 2019 album will unfold.
