Josh Homme could potentially have some new music release later this year. According to Consequence of Sound, the Queens of Stone Age member has been working on a new record with Dave Grohl and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Gibbons recently sat down with eonmusic, mentioning that the trio was in the studio together last month. “We had gone to the desert to work on just a couple of tracks,” Gibbons stated.
It was suggested that they were recording new material for a Queen of the Stone Age album, but fans have mentioned that it is a new Desert Sessions album, which Homme started in 2003. The Desert Sessions are a collection of recordings made by Homme and fellow musicians out in Joshua Tree, California. Grohl recently went on Hommes’ The Alligator Hour radio show, creating even more speculation of it being a Desert Sessions record. He jokingly told Homme he has“always want[ed] to” participate in a Desert Sessions record to which Homme responded I just don’t want you to.”
Earlier this year, Homme hinted at the new record with Instagram posts made from the Queens of the Stone Age’s account. The post included hashtags #desert, #sessions, #11 and #12. Hommes’ last release of new music was a feature on the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack released this year.
