Former Chairlift Singer Caroline Polachek Debuts Mesmerizing New Video For “Door”

Caroline Polachek, former singer for the synthpop band Chairlift, has released her first official single as a solo artist. The song is titled “Door” and is the first taste of the singer’s upcoming solo debut album. Polachek has been making music for over a decade, with a large portion of her career being as a member of Chairlift. The group embraced unique indie sounds that can still be seen in Polachek’s new solo material, evidence of the strong vision Polachek had on the group’s material given it was mainly a duo. For a majority of Chairlift’s history it was a duo between Caroline Polachek and musician Patrick Wimberly, allowing the two to work together closely to create something with both of their musical influences.

Polachek had been a member of Chairlift for over a decade, founding the duo with musician Aaron Pfenning. Patrick Wimberly joined the outfit in 2007, making the group a trio for a time. Over the course of the band’s career, Pfenning left the group, leaving Polachek and Wimberly as Chairlift. The band announced it would be breaking up at the end of 2016 with post made on social media. Announcing that after ten years Wimberly and Polachek were ready to retire the Chairlift moniker and pursue music their separate ways. The band performed a farewell tour the following Spring and then began to work on their own projects.

Now Polachek is ready to unveil her new solo material, with the first track being “Door.” The new song is a light synth pop track; focused on highlighting Polachek’s beautiful singing voice in a unique way. “Door” was also accompanied with a brand new music video, one that allowed Polachek to embrace her artistic style in a visual form to compliment her music. The video depicts a series of increasingly psychedelic scenes with Polachek’s stunning vocals in the background. No part of the video is too overwhelming, allowing the viewer to really take in the beauty of the track and the mood it is attempting to create. Fans of Chairlift, Caroline or simply indie pop music in general can check out the video below.
