Thom Yorke will tour North America this fall, with producer Nigel Godrich and visual artist Tarik Barri. The three, who toured as Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes in 2015, following the release of the EP under the same title in 2014 will again collaborate onstage this year, playing The Greek Theatre in late October, together producing a multi-sensory experience.
Yorke, who found musical acclaim when his band Radiohead gained notoriety at home in Britain during the 1990’s and early 2000’s, has been making experimental music since 1985. Releasing his first solo album The Eraser in 2006, from which the single ‘Harrowdown Hill’ topped UK charts, a politically loaded track that navigates the suicide of British weapons expert David Kelley, complicit in the falsely identified weapons of mass destruction in Iraq by the UK government.
Yorke’s ongoing collaboration with record producer, engineer and musician Nigel Godrich has spanned every studio recorded record of Radiohead’s since OK Computer (1997), into Yorke’s solo albums and beyond; 2009 seeing the pair join with Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joey Waronker of Beck and R.E.M and Mauro Refosco of Forro in the Dark, as Atoms For Peace – in order to tour and perform Yorke’s The Eraser (2006).
Yorke is an activist supporting animal rights, human rights, environmental and anti-war causes, he has released his solo-work and records with Radiohead on alternative platforms pay-what-you-want and BitTorrent. This show will be an audio-visual installation, inhabiting the space it takes shape within in multi-dimensional ways. Tarik Barri has been developing synesthetic visuals since he was a child, destabilizing the boundaries of sensory experience to create a new kind of contact and participation that is all enveloping.
