Natural Velvet with Piss Priest, Monograms, & The Rizzos @ Union Pool 6/28

If you’re a rock fan, you’ll love this secret gem of a show hitting Union Pool at the end of next month. Heavy punk rockers Natural Velvet will seize the Union Pool stage on June 28th, loaded with slightly lighter fare from Piss Priest, Monograms, and The Rizzos. Tickets start at just $8 for advance purchases and $10 on the day of the show. On the 28th, doors will open at 7:30pm and first sounds will begin at 8:00pm; and sorry kids, but this show is only for grown folks – 21 years and older.

Natural Velvet is a grunge-filled punk-rock outfit based out of Baltimore, MD. Their music, filled with chunky basslines and fuzzy, ambient rhythm guitars, definitely offers any punk listener many opportunities to head-bang along. Those who prefer a lighter sound won’t be disappointed, either – songs such as “Scars,” “Kristina,” “Fruits,” and “When You Come” certainly suit their appetite and are nothing to scoff at by any means. In fact, they serve as quite the testimony to a catalog of diversity within their overall sound.

Several of their support acts lean slightly more toward the lighter vibes and energy of Natural Velvet’s sound. While the Monograms certainly have a lo-fi edge and similar minor-twinged melodic style, many of their tracks such as “Summertime Comes & I Am Your Fall” and “Downer” have a much bright disposition and upward slant.

For only $8 a pop, take a friend or two and check out the scene at Union Pool – you might be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

Melissa Aiello: Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Melissa and I am a 24-year-old passionate lover of all things related to music and live entertainment. I've been singing since the second grade, and playing guitar for the past five years. I grew up in a fairly musical household, with my grandfather breaking out his accordion and starting sing-a-longs at every family gathering. It was here that I began falling in love with music and its power to change moods, emotions, and lives. My taste in music goes far and wide - you name it, I'll (probably) listen to it. My hundreds of Spotify playlists include everything from Biggie to ABBA to the Jonas Brothers (thank GOD they're back together) to Dolly Parton and everything in-between. I aim for my little corner of the internet to spread love and positivity for all this beautiful music, and give you the opportunity to see or hear artists you may otherwise have not heard of.
