Influential Electronic Pioneers Tangerine Dream To Have Seven Classic Albums Remastered And Reissued for June 2019 Release

Classic electronic music fans have a reason to get excited. The German electronic band Tangerine Dream announced that their most popular albums will be remastered, reissued, and released this June 2019. The works to be released will include seven of Tangerine Dream’s most groundbreaking albums including Phaedra (1974), Rubycon (1975), Ricochet (1975), Stratosfear (1976), Encore (1977), Cyclone (1978), and Force Majeure (1979). The remastered albums will be available to stream online and in CD form. Additionally, each album will have one or more bonus tracks added on.

We have Tangerine Dream to thank for much of the electronic music available to us today. The group acted as one of the pioneers of the genre and made great strides in developing synth and incorporating it into pop music. In Germany, Tangerine Dream helped solidify and push the genre of krautrock, an experimental genre which started in the 70s that relied heavily on electronic music and had its foundations in funk and jazz. Tangerine Dream and Krautrock had a heavy influence on the sound of the 80s. This can be heard in the numerous 80s films the group scored including Risky Business, Thief, Three O’Clock High, and Miracle Mile.

Tangerine Dream is quite an active band and throughout their career they’ve released over one hundred albums. Their often synth based songs are complicated works that are truly unpredictable and experimental. When listening to later albums and works they’ve done you can hear the evolution of the group and how they’ve built off of works like Stratosfear and Phaedra. Many of their songs layer sounds throughout and others feel like a collage of many different tracks as every twenty seconds the sound goes somewhere totally new. Their albums are exciting to listen to and it will be intriguing to hear the bonus tracks and remixes of their most popular works on their remastered albums.
