Rock band Melvins have confirmed an upcoming collaboration as a split release with old-school Bay Area punks Flipper. The reveal was cemented by Melvins’ Facebook post, whic read: “Melvins Flipper collaboration coming soon, here’s proof!” with a link to the test pressing version of new EP called “Hot Fish,” which is currently available for auction on eBay website (current bid: $455).
Both American rock bands have an influence on grunge music. Sludgy metal band Melvins have been busy releasing nearly an album a year for the last few years and lead singer Buzz Osborne recently featured on Dub Trio’s new album, The Shape of Dub To Come. They also joined the lineup of upcoming the ‘Stoned and Dusted’ event on May 25.
Meanwhile, Flipper has previously announced their 40th-anniversary tour on March. The tour kicked off at Regent Theater in Los Angeles on April 12, the most recent show will be held at the Punk Rock Bowling festival in Las Vegas on May 24.
The Hot Fish EP will include four tracks in total and will be released from Amphetamine Reptile Records. Two of the songs are Melvins covering Flipper while the other two songs are Melvins and Flipper performing together. One of those collaborative songs will be a brand new original track.
