Kim Petras @ Irving Plaza 6/14

Professional pop-bop connoisseur Kim Petras is performing a show at Irving Plaza on Friday, June 14th. Doors open at 8:00pm for the 9:00pm show, which is available for all ages. Expect to pay a pretty penny to see Petras at this smaller venue, with prices starting at $110 for General Admission and further climbing from there.

Kim Petras is not your typical pop star – her career development and growth as an artist has been fairly unconventional, but just as (if not way more) rewarding to see progress. Growing up in Cologne, Germany, she gained media attention as a child for undergoing her gender transition at a young age. However, once she began writing and releasing music, her childhood became a mere footnote to her raw, genuine talent.

Petras has been breaking traditional pop norms since the beginning of her career. To this day, she remains an independent artist operating under her own label, BunHead Records. Her very first single, 2017’s “I Don’t Want It All,” reached the Spotify Global Viral Chart. She’s also showcased a spectrum of differing pop tones, starting with her Turn Off the Light, Vol. 1, an EP themed entirely around Halloween. Other singles of hers, such as “Heart to Break” and “Faded,” play off a more standard pop form.

Forget the pop you’re used to hearing: Kim Petras has a mind of her own, and she’s ready to make her mark.

Melissa Aiello: Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Melissa and I am a 24-year-old passionate lover of all things related to music and live entertainment. I've been singing since the second grade, and playing guitar for the past five years. I grew up in a fairly musical household, with my grandfather breaking out his accordion and starting sing-a-longs at every family gathering. It was here that I began falling in love with music and its power to change moods, emotions, and lives. My taste in music goes far and wide - you name it, I'll (probably) listen to it. My hundreds of Spotify playlists include everything from Biggie to ABBA to the Jonas Brothers (thank GOD they're back together) to Dolly Parton and everything in-between. I aim for my little corner of the internet to spread love and positivity for all this beautiful music, and give you the opportunity to see or hear artists you may otherwise have not heard of.
