After Perez’s Reddit comments resurfaced, Zachary Cole Smith tweeted, “I will never EVER tolerate sexism, racism, homophobia, bullying, or bigotry of any kind. I’m doing everything to get to the bottom of this”. Smith stated that conversations around Perez’s position in the band were being questioned and finally Perez left DIIV in 2017. The band toured with Deafheaven for two months in the fall of 2018. Devin Perez was not a part of the Deafheaven tour and his presence went unnoticed by many fans. The band has carried on without Perez and will release new music in the near coming future.
