Ulver is back with a new album called Drone Activity that is ready for imminent release, May 11 2019. The experimental rock group will have the CDs and vinyl copies of the new record shipping on June 1, 2019.
The music was recorded at the bands set at Drone Activity as part of the Red Bull Music Festival in Oslo. While it’s a live recording, it appears all of the songs are new tracks.

In addition to the album being announced with little fanfare on March 1, they also released an excerpt of a new song from the album titled “Blood, Fire, Woods, Diamonds” and “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.”
The band has dabbled in an array of genres, beginning with black and folk metal roots but quickly pivoting to other styles. They’ve particularly exhibited electronic leanings on their latest albums, including 2017’s excellent The Assassination of Julius Caesar and the EP Sic Transit Gloria Muni. The former came in at number nine in our best albums of 2017 list.
The band has also been playing shows over the last few months. mxdwn had the pleasure of covering their first-ever United States show at Irving Plaza in New York City.
