If you want to take your NYC Pride love to the next level, then look no further than World Pride NYC’s Pride Island Festival. The celebration will take place at Pier 97 and feature a plethora of artists, including Grace Jones, Teyana Taylor, Pablo Vittar, Amara La Negra, and Johnny Dynell, among many others. Pride Island will also span over two days, June 29th and 30th. Although two-day General Admission and VIP packages are sold out, single-day GA and VIP tickets for Saturday’s show are still available at $125 and $200 respectively (plus fees). This is a strict 21+ only event, and the party begins at 2:00pm going all the way until 11:00pm.
This is Pride Island’s third year running. The eclectic festival began back in 2017 as an evolution from previous day-long show Dance On the Pier, which previously capped off Pride Week in NYC. The show has been a smashing success so far, becoming an iconic day of celebration for the LGBTQIA+ community to come together. Past lineups have been an absolute blast, and this one is no exception.
Headlining Saturday’s show is none other than Grace Jones, a renowned singer, songwriter, and actress. Her music career began in 1977 with a sound that was embraced widely within the iconic disco scene in NYC, namely in venues such as the classic Studio 54. Over the years, her music has spanned quite a few genres, flavored with essences of disco to reggae to punk. Standing strong at 70 years old, her live show will have you dancing on your feet all day and all night. With artists such as herself and the incomparable Teyana Taylor and Pablo Vittar taking the stage, tell me again: why haven’t you bought your ticket yet?
