Oakland sludge metal band Neurosis have an upcoming summer tour scheduled to begin in New York City, New York, on August 11 at Brooklyn Steel. For this North American tour, Neurosis will be supported by Deafkids as well as Seattle’s Bell Witch, another doom favorite. Deafkids are a Brazil band who also belong to Neurosis’ label, Neurot Recordings. Bell Witch are doom powerhouses whose third album, Mirror Reaper, received wide praise as a doomy masterpiece.
According to BrooklynVegan, their announcement for this North American tour comes right after their previous announcement of a UK and Europe tour that will see Neurosis tour with legendary doom metal band, YOB. The full list of tour dates and locations are included below.
Formed in 1985, Neurosis began as a hardcore punk band consisting of guitarist Scott Kelly, Dave Edwardson on bass, and Jason Roeder on drums. The current lineup includes Steve Von Till and Noah Landis as well. Neurosis are sludge metal legends who have released a total of 11 studio albums over the course of their careers, with the latest being 2016’s Fire Within Fires. Earlier this year, the band’s guitarist Kelly treated Londoners when he performed alongside Mastodon at London dive bar, Blondies. It was an intimate set with only 50 fans allowed into the venue. Kelly is also noted to be very candid about his struggle with mental health, and he cancelled string of shows last year to take some time off to deal with his illness.
