Since 2016 Amplify Philly has been one of the most popular events of SXSW. It brings the &best of Phlilly’s diverse business, culture, and tech communities into the international spotlight.& Their goal is to attract the best individuals in all fields to Philadelphia. However when all the work is done, and the evening starts, that’s when everyone is trying to get to Amplify Philly because the fun they bring to SXSW. From their local talent, to the food (yes, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches are there), to the drinks, everyone seems to try to enjoy the sample of nightlife Philly has to offer. This year for SXSW Amplify Philly is back with a three day lineup of live music, food and drinks.
Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th evenings will be kicked off with the Amplify Philly Happy Hour. Following Saturday’s Happy Hour will be the Philly Loves Philly Party starting off with DJ’s Mike Nyce and Rich Medina playing nothing but Philly hits by Philly artists. Following the DJ sets will be Philly musicians: Steve McKie, a drumming legend who has shared the stage with dozens of other musicians and achieving numerous Gold records, Cory Bernhard, part of the group Killiam Shakespeare (who will perform Monday evening), Tone Whitfield, Mike Severson.
Sunday March 10th will feature Joshua Lang, DJ Aktive and Philadelphia legend DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Amplify Philly will conclude Monday evening with an official showcase featuring a lineup of all Philly artists including: rock band Foxtrot & the Get Down, pop/soul/rock band GREAT TIME, altertative singer-song writer Ali Awan and Killiam Shakespeare, a group of musicians made of entirely Philly musicians including Cory Bernhard and Steve McKie.
From Saturday March 9th through Monday March 11th Amplify Philly will occupy at Pour Choices (401 E 6th St.)
Every event is free and 21 and over event.
