Mac DeMarco Announces New Album, Out May 10th, and Presents Video for Lead Single

Here Comes The Cowboy is Mac DeMarco’s 4th studio album that is dropping May 10. The Canadian singer-songwriter has announced his upcoming album along with the release of the album’s lead single and titled, “Nobody,” which is accompanied by a self-directed music video. Mac DeMarco, whose real name is McBriare Samuel Lanyon, last released an album in 2017 called This Old Dog, which was lauded for its romantic tracks that are the essence of Lanyon’s enchanting style.

The Old Dogwill be the first album DeMarco released via his own label, which he eponymously named in classic Mac DeMarco style, Mac’s Record Label. It was produced by DeMarco in his Los Angeles Jizz Jazz Studios earlier this year, and almost every instrument heard on the record was played DeMarco himself, apart from keyboards on certain songs. Speaking on the album, DeMarco references his romantic influences, stating that “Cowboy is a term of endearment to [him]” that he uses it to “[refer] to people in his life.” The record will include 13 tracks and can be pre-ordered via DeMarco’s website.

Here Comes The Cowboy Tracklist:
1. Here Comes The Cowboy
2. Nobody
3. Finally Alone
4. Little Dogs March
5. Preoccupied
6. Choo Choo
7. K
8. Heart to Heart
9. Hey Cowgirl
10. On the Square
11. All of Our Yesterdays
12. Skyless Moon
13. Baby Bye Bye

The forthcoming album’s lead single “Nobody” is a mellow, dreamy, track that features DeMarco’s simple-yet-impactful acoustic guitar playing complemented by his evocative and tender voice. The emotional lyrics read, “I’m a preacher, A done decision, Another creature that’s lost its vision,” are in line with his self-directed music video, which features DeMarco as a lizard-man wearing a cowboy hat as he smokes a cigar while singing away. It is a casual yet evocative video that captures Mac’s style.

DeMarco is scheduled for a big tour around North America and Europe this 2019 Spring. Beginning on April 10 in Los Angeles, California, the Mac DeMarco Tour will have more than 50 shows over 8 months, ending on November 11 in Berlin, Germany. He will be playing some big venues and festivals such as the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, Reykyavik’s Iceland Airwaves festival, and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.
