Singer Jenny Lewis has released a new single in support of her next upcoming album, On The Line. The song, which is titled “Red Bull & Hennessy” is the only single Lewis has released so far for her next album. On The Line was announced at the end of 2018 and has fans and critics anxiously waiting for the singer’s new content. Lewis has previously released three albums as a solo artist, making On The Line her fourth, and made a variety of different albums under a few different bands. Aside from her solo work, Lewis’ main musical project was with the band Rilo Kiley before its dissolution in 2010.
Lewis has been in the spotlight for most her life, originally acting in a series of small roles as a child. Turning to music in the 1990s, Lewis began working as a founding part of the band Rilo Kiley near the end of the decade. From there, the singer worked four albums with the band before releasing her solo debut, Rabbit Fur Coat, in 2006. The album was well-liked by fans of Rilo Kiley and Lewis herself and contained the popular tracks “You Are What You Love” and “Rise Up With Fists!!” Both of these helped cement Lewis’ solo career and paved the way for her follow up album in 2008, Acid Tongue. Released near the end of Rilo Kiley’s lifespan, this album worked to establish Jenny Lewis as a more independent artist and was supported by the title track, “Acid Tongue.”
Lewis’ newest album, The Voyager, was not released until 2014 and was by far her most popular release as of yet. The album had a variety of breakout tracks that gained mainstream attention, these including the title track and the songs “Just One Of The Guys” and “She’s Not Me.” Overall, Lewis’ popularity and musical talent has been increasing over the years and the new single, “Red Bull & Hennessy,” is another example of this trend. The new single features Lewis’ signature stunning vocals alongside a heavily rock influenced production style. Despite the new sounds Lewis brings into her music with this song, it still contains her unique musical style and influences. On The Line is anticipated by many to be one of the better albums of 2019 and its release will be accompanied with a tour by Jenny Lewis in the coming months.
