Vince Staples @ The Fillmore 2/19

There was a recent announcement from Long Beach rapper Vince Staples about a lengthy North American tour set for next winter. The “Smile, You’re On Camera” tour will include a stop here in Philly at the Fillmore on February 19th. The tour follows the abrupt release of his third studio album FM! which came out just over a month ago. The tour is not the only news from Vince lately as he also announced a new shoe and jacket with Converse.

Vince Staples got his start recording with Earl Sweatshirt and Mike G despite not intending to make a career out of rapping. His appearances on some Odd Future tracks as well as Earl’s prompted him to launch himself into the industry with his debut mixtape Shyne Coldchain Vol. 1. Vince quickly picked up a large fanbase and connected with rappers like Schoolboy Q and Mac Miller.

His most recent release, FM! was a pleasant surprise from the rapper who had refrained from saying anything regarding the project until just a few days before it’s release on November 2nd. The album is his first since last year’s Big Fish Theory, and was produced by Kenny Beats. Vince will be joined by fellow Southern California rapper Buddy, who just finished touring with Joey Badass and A$AP Ferg this year.
