The people behind Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival have revealed via their social media page that the weekend event will not take place in 2019. Though the festival will take a break for a year, the organizers have expressed that it will comeback in March of 2020. There is still no reasoning behind the cancellation of the upcoming festival. Thursday afternoon was when news broke out regarding the hiatus. A statement was posted on the festival’s social media accounts saying that, “we have decided to take a fallow year and not hold our annual Okeechobee Fest in 2019.”
“For the past three years, we have witnessed 100,000 strangers from all walks of life, come together to our home of Sunshine Grove in Okeechobee, Florida, to live, laugh, listen, sing, dance, learn, create, meditate, downward dog, eat & drink, explore, give back, embrace and live OMF’s mantra to Be, Here, Now. Now that’s love,” reads a portion of a note posted on the festival’s website. “While the OMF portal won’t be opening in 2019, we’re looking to March 2020, and we can’t wait to see you again. Thank you for your love, support and understanding.”
Since starting back in 2016, the Okeechobee Festival has drawn over 32,000 attendees and has taken place at Sunshine Grove in Okeechobee, Florida and occurred four days of each March. Unlike other music festivals, Okeechobee Fest is a little different and prides itself from standing out. Besides attracting music fans and showing great musical performances, it also holds interactive and immersive art experiences, activities revolving health and wellness as well as diverse food from vendors from all over Florida. Past performers of Okeechobee Festival included Mumford & Sons, Robert Plant, Ween, STS9, Flaming Lips, The Roots, Kings Of Leon, The Lumineers, TAUK, Bassnectar, THe Roots, Pretty Lights and The Revivalists. So for those who were looking forward to next year’s event, hold your head up. The break won’t last forever.
