At a recent rally in support of President Trump, Prince’s estate had caught wind from video footage of his music playing at a recent rally and it raised a red flag for them. According to the Star Tribune, the estate had issued a statement Thursday night asking they “cease all use immediately.” It was sent out “on behalf of the estate by longtime Prince associate Jeremiah Freed, aka Dr. Funkenberry, and it was retweeted by Prince’s brother, Omarr Baker.” aA Prince fan responded to the estates’ statement issued Thursday night saying, “This makes perfect sense as he was completely neutral with regard to political affairs.” Anil Dash, founder of the tech company Glitch and a Prince fan, tweeted, “Alright, Prince estate: nobody has more experience shutting down misuses of an artist’s work than you do. The estate recently released a new music video titled “Mary Don’t You Weep.” The video opens with a message from Prince saying, “Nearly 1,300 children die and 5,790 are treated for gunshot wounds each year in the United States. The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time.
