A Perfect Circle, Garbage, Dead Kennedys, Rage Against The Machine and BABYMETAL Among Titles Announced for Black Friday Record Store Day 2018

The fall edition of Record Store Day is about to take over your favorite indie music shop with a two day extravaganza on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. November 24 and 25 will find music fans cramming into independent record stores across the country in hopes of an exclusive chance to purchase new music, some of which is extremely rare. Today the festivities got started with Record Store Day releasing a list of what will be available that weekend — there are many gems throughout the massive list that are sure to leave record collectors salivating.

First up is a new 7″ from A Perfect Circle. While the A-side isn’t much to get excited about, featuring song from their new album “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish,” the B-side offers a pretty cool rarity for fans — a cover of AC/DC’s “Dog Eat Dog.” Fans of heavy-yet-poppy music will be looking out for copies of BABYMETAL’s latest song, “Distortion.” The 7″ record will include a studio version of the song as well as their live performance of the song at Download Festival this year. Meanwhile, fans of the seminal alt-metal pioneers Rage Against The Machine should be lining up in droves for a double LP of music called Live & Rare. This release will include live songs and demo tracks on vinyl for the first time ever. Choice cuts from this expansive release include a cover of Public Enemy’s “Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos” featuring future Prophets of Rage member (and Public Enemy frontman) Chuck D on vocals, plus their early demo from 1991.

The Dead Kennedys offer something for punk fans, which just so happens to be “the first new Dead Kennedys anything in about 13 years.” Released on LP, demos that make up Iguana Studios Rehearsal Sessions includes the original members and have never been released before. Garbage has a very special release planned for Record Store Day as well. They worked with Exene Cervenka and John Doe to write and produce the new song “Destroying Angels.” The B-side is a cover of “Starman” that was recorded for Howard Stern’s David Bowie tribute broadcast.

Other noteworthy releases include a previously-unannounced Matthew Sweet album called Wicked System of Things, a special version of Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein’s Stranger Things score, an Africa-shaped picture disc version of Weezer’s cover of Toto’s “Africa,” and much more.
