“Gainesville” is an all-new, previously unreleased track from the upcoming, career-spanning Tom Petty box set An American Treasure. The song was recorded in 1998 during Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ Echo sessions.  An American Treasure is available for pre-order now with instant downloads of  “Gainesville” as well as “You And Me (Clubhouse Version)” and lead single “Keep A Little Soul” here.

“Keep A Little Soul” has not only been the biggest and fastest #1 for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, but it also took the biggest jump to #1 in his career (from #5-#1). It is the band’s first Triple A radio #1 in over 12 years and the the most spins ever in a single week at the format. Petty is also the first artist in the history of the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart to reach the top 10 posthumously.

Petty passed away in October of 2017 at his home in Southern California due to an accidental overdose of prescription medication. An American Treasure is set for release September 28 on Reprise Records.

UPDATE (10/2): A video for the previously unreleased “Gainesville” has been shared, coinciding with the anniversary of the legendary rock singer’s tragic death. The video centers around the early days of Petty and The Heartbreakers in his home state of Florida.
