mewithoutYou Viciously Soundtracks a Disturbing Retro TV Show in New Lyric Video “Another Head For Hydra”

Post-hardcore indie rock veterans mewithoutYou have been particularly generous to their fans lately, with the surprise EP [untitled] just a month ago and announcing new upcoming full-length for this coming October 5th, also titled(?) [Untitled].

After unveiling the truly dynamic and heart-pounding lead single “Julia (Or, ‘Holy To The LORD’ On The Bells Of Horses),” they have now released a lyric video for the second single off of [Untitled], called “Another Head for Hydra.”

Completely unlike the relatively subdued atmosphere of the [untitled] EP, both new singles from the LP are energetic romps, with “Another Head For Hydra” being a particularly intriguing preview of the follow-up to 2015’s fantastic Pale Horses.

The video is simultaneously vicious and ominous, accompanied by the song’s aggressive attitude. It opens to some opening credits to some fictional show, with the lyrics appearing as closed captions at the bottom of the screen. Throughout the rest of the clip, the director shows a particular affinity towards fire, with clips of forest fires and firefighters attempting to hold the inferno back.

The pyromaniacal imagery, accompanied by the in-your-face instrumentals and vocals overlaid by a retro television filter all makes for quite the interesting viewing experience for any mewithoutYou fan.
