Pale Waves have announced their debut album, My Mind Makes Noises, will be released September 14 via Dirty Hit/Interscope Records. Additionally, the alt-pop group have shared their lead single, “Eighteen,” ahead of their forthcoming record.
Pale Waves formed in Manchester, England in 2014 when members Heather Baron-Gracie (guitar, lead vocalist) and Ciara Doran (drums) connected while attending college. The lineup was later completed with Hugo Silvani (guitar) and Charlie Wood (bass).
The group signed with Dirty Hit in 2017 and have previously released singles including “There’s a Honey,” “Television Romance,” “New Year’s Eve,” and “Kiss.”
Lead vocalist Baron-Gracie recently sat down with Billboard to discuss dealing with increasing public visibility, saying, “I don’t know. It’s pretty crazy really. I went back home to Preston [in Lancashire, England], where my parents live a few months ago. We went into town, and I got a few people coming up to me. That was a really surreal moment. That’s where I grew up, and I had walked around town for years. And now, all of a sudden, I have these kids coming up to me asking me for a picture and saying that they love my band. It’s a weird but amazing thing to watch.”
She goes onto discuss the upcoming album: “For the album, I’ve full-on unleashed everything. Once people hear the album, it’s stepping into Heather’s world, and they’ll really understand me as a person. It’s really exciting but scary at the same time.”
Pale Waves are currently on an ambitious tour with upcoming stops August 2 at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL, August 11 at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco, CA and August 12 at 107.7 The End’s Summer Camp in Seattle, WA. The band’s tour concludes December 6 at The Fonda in Los Angeles, CA.
