Legendary guitarist Graham Coxon has announced his first-ever run of solo tour dates in North America this fall. Coxon is of course known for his work as the lead guitar player for the massively influential and popular Brit-pop group Blur, though he has actually released eight solo albums and he recently composed the soundtrack to the hit Netflix show The End of the F***ing World. The 10-date tour will see Coxon playing intimate venues with a stripped down acoustic-based set along with plenty of other surprises. Outside of a few performances with Blur, Coxon has not done a significant tour of North America since 2005, so for many fans, this will be a great opportunity to catch him up close and personal.
Coxon rose to fame through his innovative lead guitar playing on the first six Blur records, helping push the band into the stratosphere as one of the leading lights of the famous Brit-pop movement of the ’90s. Eventually, tension within the band between Coxon and Damon Albarn culminated with Coxon leaving the band in 2003. After patching up their relationship, Coxon and Albarn reformed the classic lineup of Blur to tour the world and record a comeback record in the form of 2015’s The Magic Whip. Since that album came out Blur have also released documentary about their reformation, entitled New World Towers. While Albarn is currently busy with his work in Gorillaz, Coxon has gone on record to say that he would be open to making new music with Blur in the future.
