Earthless, the rock trio hailing from San Diego is heading across North America this fall to celebrate the latest release of their new album, Black Heaven. The new tour will kick off late September on September 25th in Oregon and will continue making stops in cities such as Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver, Vancouver, Oakland until wrapping up on October 14th. A few memorable stops along Earthless series of dates include a few festival appearances including Up and Downtown Music Festival and Desert Daze which is the band’s last stop on their tour.
Black Heaven, according to a recent press release, marked a shift for the band. It featured songs (four of the six tracks on the album) with vocals where earlier albums only featured occasional vocals. The album was recorded at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, California with Dave Catching of Eagles of Death Metal handling the production.
“It wasn’t a premeditated thing to do a record with vocals,” said Rubalcaba. “On the older records, Mike was responsible for a lot of the riffs that would start these jams, but on this one, Isaiah [Mitchell] really brought his own pizazz and flavor to it. I’d say that’s one of the major differences on this album: It has more of Isaiah‘s input. He took a risk bringing these ideas to us, not knowing if we’d like them. But as with everything we’ve done in the past, it felt very organic and natural.”
Earthless is an instrumental psychedelic rock band which formed back in 2001 and consists of members guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton and drummer Mario Rubalcaba.
