The First Lady of Rock N’ Roll Wanda Jackson is teaming up with fellow female Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame member Joan Jett on a new album. Jett will be producing the album. The unnamed project is set for a September 2019 release.
Joan Jett, the singer, songwriter, and producer from Pennsylvania, began her career with hits like “Cherry Bomb” and “I Love Rock N’ Roll.” Then, Jett stepped into the role of glam rock queen. Today, she still remains.
Jett and Jackson are excited about the upcoming project that they are working on together. Jackson said of this upcoming project, “The songs on this project are very dear to my heart, as a lot of them are based on my own life experiences. I’m really looking forward to sharing what Joan and I have been working on.”
Wanda Jackson is a legend for many reasons. beginning her career at the young age of 17, she rose to popularity quickly. She had 30 hit singles on the radio in between 1954 and 1974. That’s a twenty-year reign at the top of country and pop radio. Some of these songs included “You Can’t Have My Love,” “Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad” and “Let’s Have A Party” were also some of her early hits. In addition to this, she also has 40 albums to her name.
Cross-over hits like “Right or Wrong” and “In the Middle of Heartache” shot her up on the country charts. The nomination of her country album, Two Sides of Wanda with hits like “The Box Came In” and Tears Will Be The Chaser For Your Wine,” also added to the rise of her success.
