The Decemberists, consisting of group members Meloy, Chris Funk (guitars), Jenny Conlee (keyboards), Nate Query (bass), and John Moen (drums), have been known for their unique take on indie rock. In particularly, the band does an amazing job at telling stories through their music. Whether it be quirky or dark stories, the talented group always effectively articulate their emotions and message through sound. More recently, the bands album I’ll Be Your Girl conveys the repercussions of the U.S. 2016 presidential election. The album essentially depicts the struggles as a result of the election and the similar experiences that everybody has surrounding it. This is not to say that their performance will be a downer, it’ll rather be a fun and artistic take on the harsh reality of our current situation.

In addition, Whitney the band will be providing a refreshing Chicago sound to the venue. The younger band will open up the show with their signature folk and country style tone. Catch these two evocative indie rock bands at the Greek Theatre for a night you don’t want to miss.

Julian Pino: I'm a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business. I graduated from California State University Channel Islands in Camarillo, California, but I now reside in Los Angeles. I'm very passionate about music and have been trying to involve myself with the culture surrounding it for as long as I can remember. I was recently fortunate enough to work with the thriving new multi-channel network, Create Music Group where I learned many new things about the music industry. Here, I acquired several skills regarding music monetization and even became certified in YouTube Content Ownership. When I'm not working on the clock I usually spend my time finding new music. As a DJ/producer, I take pride in discovering new artists and different types of genres. I recently started a project where I intend to support and share new artists on social media so that they're getting the recognition that they deserve. I also make an effort to attend local shows whether the performers are superstar artists or aspiring artists. Ultimately, I aim to positively impact the community of artists and listeners that are as impassioned about music as I am.
