Animal Collective members Panda Bear and Avey Tare debuted the new AnCo song, “Sea of Light,” last night during their show in Atlanta, GA, according to Consequence of Sound.
Panda and Avey are currently on tour performing Animal Collective’s 2004 record Sung Tongs in full with remaining stops in New York, DC, Austin, Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Oakland and Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, the group confirmed the existence of a double LP, Tangerine Reef, after a Reddit user noticed a French retailer, Fnac, had listed the record as a pre-order. The listing also provides a description: “Animal Collective collaborated with the collective Coral Morphologic during a series of performances in order to alert and sensitize individuals to reef protection. The result is Tangerine Reef, the soundtrack of a planetary cause.”
On July 16, Rolling Stone reports, Animal Collective officially announced their new audiovisual double album would be a collaborative endeavor with Coral Morphologic. The new record features members Avey Tare, Deakin and Geologist (sans Panda Bear) and is set for release August 17. The group has teased the upcoming album style by releasing the first single, “Hair Cutter,” which offers a psychedelic and meandering tone.
