2018 Summer Nights Featuring Cut Chemist

Following the recent release of his anticipated album, Die Cut, Cut Chemist will be joining the list of DJs performing at the KCRW Summer Nights concerts. You can catch the sounds of Cut Chemist accompanied by Buyepongo at the Hammer Museum on Thurs. July 26th for free. Performances will begin at 7:30 PM with KCRW DJ Anthony Valdez starting off the night.

Primarily known as a DJ/producer with hip hop roots, Cut Chemist began to gain momentum when he joined Los Angeles rap group Jurassic 5. It was in this group that Lucas MacFadden began to form his signature sound while being around likeminded talented artists. He later then resigned from the group to focus his attention on his debut solo album The Audience’s Listening, which then came out in 2006. It wasn’t until March 2 of this year that Cut Chemist had finally released a second studio album. The recent album full of various collaborations and influences has definitely pleased the dedicated and patient fanbase. Cut Chemist is one of many well-known and respected DJs that will be performing during the concert series.

Still Woozy, Neil Frances, Kauf, Sam Evian, and KCRW DJs Jeremy Sole and Valida are also set to perform throughout the next few Thursdays. The soundtracks of the nights will be complemented by drawings, paintings, sculptures, textiles, video photography, and installations that will be displayed. Make sure you swing by so that you have the chance to witness all the amazing local musicians and artists!

Julian Pino: I'm a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business. I graduated from California State University Channel Islands in Camarillo, California, but I now reside in Los Angeles. I'm very passionate about music and have been trying to involve myself with the culture surrounding it for as long as I can remember. I was recently fortunate enough to work with the thriving new multi-channel network, Create Music Group where I learned many new things about the music industry. Here, I acquired several skills regarding music monetization and even became certified in YouTube Content Ownership. When I'm not working on the clock I usually spend my time finding new music. As a DJ/producer, I take pride in discovering new artists and different types of genres. I recently started a project where I intend to support and share new artists on social media so that they're getting the recognition that they deserve. I also make an effort to attend local shows whether the performers are superstar artists or aspiring artists. Ultimately, I aim to positively impact the community of artists and listeners that are as impassioned about music as I am.
