Sumac Announces Summer 2018 Tour Dates

Sumac will be begin touring this September to promote their upcoming album Love in Shadow. This new release is the band’s third full-length LP and is scheduled for release September 21st via Thrill Jockey records.

The Canadian/American trio’s new album explores the complexities of human magnetism and corrupt love. Inspiration for Love In Shadow is “the need to be loved and accepted for who we are, a desire all humans share,” said guitarist Aaron Turner.

In February of this year, Sumac partnered with Japanese instrumentalist Keiji Haino, to release the album American Dollar Bill- Keep Facing Sideways, You’re Too Hideous To Look At Face On. Turner said, “While all of this material was written before our recording session with Haino, that experience further bolstered our confidence to travel further into territories free of preconceived structure and melody. Immediacy, intuition, and risk have become an increasingly important aspect of our music making.”

Sumac formed in 2014 and consists of members Aaron Turner (guitar, vocals), Nick Yacyshyn (drums) and Brian Cook (bass guitar).
