During an interview on Kyle Meredith With… podcast, guitarist Graham Coxon discussed the possibility of a new Blur album. According to Consequences of Sound, Coxon said he would be open to new collaborations with Blur bandmates: “I really don’t see why not? Why there can’t be another Blur album. We’re all still alive and in reasonable control of our faculties.”
Blur formed in London in 1988, and have released eight previous albums including Leisure (1991), Modern Life is Rubbish (1993), Parklife (1994), The Great Escape (1995), Blur (1997), 13 (1999), Think Tank (2003) and the group’s first album in 12 years, The Magic Whip (2015).
Singer Damon Albarn has been busy lately with projects including the upcoming Gorillaz album The Now Now, due for release June 29, and new The Good, The Bad & The Queen record which Albarn has described as “sort of Finished. Additionally, Gorillaz will host their music festival, 2018 Demon Dayz LA, October 20.
During the podcast, Coxon described the possible Blur album timeline, saying, “These thing just happen when they need to happen. We all do different things and then there is going to be one day when it hits us, that is seems like a good idea to do that now. I don’t think these things can ever be forced into happening… [There will] be a time when the notion comes upon us all, the stars aligned, and we go ‘yeah, why not.’ That’s how it’s always worked, really.”
