Tove Lo has released a new single titled “bitches,” and it delivers on the promise of its star-studded guest list. The video features the singers dancing and singing between clips of a couple (played by Paul W. Downs and Jessy Hodges) undergoing what appears to be some very experimental couples’ therapy.
A typically raunchy Tove Lo affair, “bitches” features a chorus of “bitches I don’t trust ’em / but they give me what I love for the night.” Charli XCX is up first in the song, delivering a seductive verse sandwiched between Tove Lo’s verses.
Tove Lo’s wardrobe fits the vibe of the song, consisting of 80s zip-up jacket (unzipped of course), pasties and shorts – that’s it. Along with a crew of women, the video doubles as a workplace comedy, with the couples therapists (whose exercises include tongue workouts for him) relieved when the clock hit lunchtime. The stylish video suddenly cuts to raw footage of the ladies dining with chopsticks and eating tempura vegetables, which they offer to the caged and collared couple. After begrudgingly returning to work, ALMA and Elliphant deliver their verses, with ALMA going toe-to-toe with Charli XCX for the standout guest spot on the song.
The video concludes as the hard work of Charli XCX, Icona Pop, Elliphant, ALMA and company’s hard working paying off. As the singers gyrate around the couple, they strip down and well… show us everything they learned.
