Interpol may have plans for an event in Mexico City. According to Pitchfork, on June 5, the band tweeted a link to an event scheduled in Mexico City with an image of a press pass that reads, “Authorized for Entry June 7th, 11:30 CT.” The tweet also includes a link to the group’s Facebook account, where there is a sign-in option for the event.
Today, June 6, Interpol tweeted a monochromatic mural which features coordinates ““19.411798, -99.18227” in the top right corner. The coordinates point to a Mexico City location while the tweet reads, “9.30am CT. Tomorrow. Maybe it’s time. R.”
The group recently released a documentary focusing on their debut album, Turn On The Bright Light, released in 2002. NME reports the short film runs eight minutes and was filmed during a tour stop in Mexico City.
Interpol’s last record, El Pintor, was released in 2014, and last year the group said they were working on a new album, with a tentative 2018 release. Drummer Sam Fogarino said the new material was “fist in the air arena rock ballads, all the way.”
