It has been quite a month for Kanye West. From social media posts in blind support of Donald Trump, to surprise releases of Yeezy fashion and new songs, West has been under everyone’s attention. Following suit on his many surprises, Yeezy has released a short album he has decidedly titled ye which features his most interesting music to date. Not only has he released a new collection of music this morning, but West has also brought on quite a few collaborators such as Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla Sign, Jeremih, Charlie Wilson, 070 Shake, and John Legend.
According to Pitchfork, Justin Vernon also had his magical hands on the album in that he contributed music with Phil Cook for the song “Wouldn’t Leave.” Even though the album credits were officially released there have also been rumors of other musicians working on the project; all of which have been denied. Kanye himself debuted the album at a listening party in Jackson Hole, WY late thursday of this week.
ye has been one of the shorter album in Kanye West’s career, but the production quality does not fall short of perfect as usual with his music. And the melody of his track “Ghost Town” seems to carry some remnants, if not an homage, to the song “Runaway” on of his of most widely-acclaimed records My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Other tracks on ye, however, seem a little more incomplete and confused, but Kanye, as per usual, seems to know what he’s doing. See the minimalist art for ye as well as the tracklist. ye is available on all music streaming services.
