See Mr. California, Andrew McMahon, in His Hometown This September!

It is always a blessed day when one gets to see Andrew McMahon in his home state. For many, Andrew McMahon painted a picture of California and Los Angeles living in a way that reaches deeper than simply sunshine and rainbows. While many have written about following their dreams in the city of Angeles, Andrew McMahon’s music stands out with his sheer honest and raw approach in both his lyrics and compositions.

Starting as front man for Something Corporate in 2000, Andrew McMahon has changed and his adapted his style drastically since his days in Dana Point, CA. From Something Corporate, Andrew transitioned from traditional pop punk into more lyrical indie rock with Jack’s Mannequin. Jack’s was a period of freedom, experimentation, and reflection for McMahon. In this period, he not only moved on from his high school days, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on the exact day he finished Everything in Transit (Jack’s Mannequin’s first album). During this period, Andrew McMahon recovered from leukemia, released three albums, and opened a charity called the Dear Jack Foundation – raising and donating money to cancer research.

His latest project, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness truly marks a new journey in the artist’s life. In 2014, he announced his shift in music after the birth of his first daughter Cecilia. McMahon has released two albums under this name, one Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and his latest Zombies on Broadway. His new music speaks more to a crowd experiencing nostalgia, mature relationships, and family – yet his performance energy has always stayed the same.

Even after years of touring and performing, every Andrew McMahon show feels like the first real performance in an intimate and lively way. He sings with intense passion, dancing on the piano, stage diving, and interacting with the audience. The only thing he won’t do is take requests – because as any McMahon fan knows – requests are for karaoke bars.
