As the release date nears for their new record, High as Hope, which is set to drop on June 29th, Florence + The Machine has debuted two new songs from the album, “Patricia” and “100 Years” as reported by Consequence of Sound. The band recently played their first concert of the year at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax, England, giving them a perfect opportunity to roll through some new songs.
“Patrica” is a delicate piano-driven piece that features another classic vocal performance from Florence Welch. Eventually, the song picks up the pace and adds in a bit of dramatic flair towards the end. “100 Years” follows the same formula at the beginning, slowly building from a simple set of piano chords before establishing a stomping drum and bass rhythm.
2018 promises to be a huge year for Florence + The Machine as the group is set to headline some of the biggest festivals in the US such as Outside Lands and Life Is Beautiful in addition to releasing High as Hope, their first new album since 2015’s excellent How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. Since their breakthrough debut record Lungs in 2009, the group has become one of the biggest rock bands in the world, garnering plenty of critical acclaim and establishing one of the most devoted fanbases in the world.
