The War on Drugs Makes Hollywood Bowl Debut with Alvvays

Rising out of the punk rock basement shows of Philadelphia, The War on Drugs makes their Hollywood Bowl debut on September 16th. Founded in 2005, this rock band has made quite the impact on the music industry. With four studio albums, their latest album A Deeper Understanding won Best Rock Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.

In June 2015, The War on Drugs signed with Atlantic Records for a two-album deal. A Deeper Understanding is the first of these two, and was introduced first by the 11 minute single “Thinking of a Place.” The single was produced by front man Granduciel and Shawn Everett. Everett has worked with Alabama Shakes, Weezer, and now The War on Drugs.

The band is now on a world tour for the album, making one last stop in the U.S. at the Hollywood Bowl with indie pop band and opener, Alvvays. Alvvays is a new band only on their second album, but they have received high praise. Their second album Antisocialites released in Sept 2017 was named one of the best albums of the year by The Guardian.

Both bands have albums that will only leave you wanting more, so experience both of their debuts at the Hollywood bowl on September 16th 2018.
