The American rock super group known as A Perfect Circle is about to embark on a new North American and Europe tour starting this Fall. These dates include sets at Denmark’s NorthSide Festival and Netherland’s Pinkpop Festival. The tour announcement arrives as the band celebrates the release of Eat the Elephant, A Perfect Circle’s first album in fourteen years. Their last studio album was Emotive, a collection of anti-war cover songs that came out in 2004 via Virgin Records.
Eat The Elephant was available to purchase on Friday and it struck chords with a lot of music magazines where the band graces the covers of Revolver, Kerrang, and Vision. Rolling Stone magazine called the 12-track album “a moody, sensitive portrait of a band that decided to grow up and makes a record that reflects where they are now as artists rather than trying to recapture the past.” The album is available on double 180-gram black version as well as an indie retail exclusive limited-edition white 180-gram version that sold out immediately. A new colorway, a double 180-gram clear blue/clear red vinyl edition will be released on July 6, with pre-orders available here.
A Perfect Circle recently performed at Coachella’s Music and Art festival during its week two event where they played songs off their new record including “Hourglass,” “Talk Talk,” “Disillusionment” and “The Contrarian.” The band came together in 1999 and its current line-up includes Maynard James Keenan (Tool, Puscifer), Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide), James Iha (Tinted Windows, Smashing Pumpkins), Jeff Friedl (Puscifer, The Beta Machine) and Matt McJunkins (Eagles of Death Metal, The Beta Machine). Greg Edwards (Failure, Autolux) is set to fill in for James Iha on all announced A Perfect Circle shows.
UPDATE: The upcoming Fall tour which is set to kick off next month, October 20th in West Valley City has become even bigger. Scheduled to open for A Perfect Circle during their Fall dates is the Los Angeles based Electronic Duo, Night Club as well as Tricky! Both acts will help support A Perfect Circle while they hit the road across North America which will wrap up on November 20th in Arizona. Night Club formed back in 2012 and recently released their sophomore album, Scary World last month. Tricky! who’s real name is Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws is an English record producer and musician.
